DAILY BLOTTER

The blotter series was inspired by events that impacted a close friend in the late 90’s. As a teenager growing up in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, these visuals reflect the choices we made, to the innocence lost for many of my friends. I saw this blotter capture the reminders of the beautiful tragedies that befall humanity and people of color. We are reminded to keep our third eye open, thriving in NYC and across the nation.

The NYPD Daily Crime Blotter (1998-2019) is a now extinct printed segment of the New York Post which listed daily police arrests and charges.

A deeper look would often reflect glimpses into stereotypes that shape our media, neighborhoods, and people, with a conscious intent to trigger negative perceptions through mugshots and drawings. The online version is now a shadow of what it used to be. We now rely on apps like Citizen.
